We have offically left the Georgian Bay and have started the North Channel.
We enter Killarney, first settled in 1820 as a fur trading post and is now a much-welcomed sheltering spot for voyagers. Sportsman's Inn is a mainstay in Killarney for cruisers and visitors.
The town was not connected to the rest of the world by a road until 1962. Killarney Provincial Park affords wilderness hiking and canoeing among the quartzite peaks of the Killarney Mountains.
The public dock is located at Herbert Fisheries. The dock is often busy with hungry tourists for one of the superb fish dinners at the take-out restaurant here. Again, fried white fish, and fresh trout and perch to take back to the boat and cook.
The Sportsman's Inn was a well-equipped marina with a good restaurant. Many large boats packed in there as bad weather approached.
Fortunately, Peaches wasn't bothered at all.
