The Jersey Shore

Hi everyone! We have been without WiFi for a week so I hope to touch on some highlights of our time in New Jersey. I find the New Jersey Shore to be much bigger and more varied than I ever imagined.

There are charming beach towns, gambling and boardwalks, marinas and fishing, and alot of sand.

We pulled into Harbor Cove Marina to visit with our good friends, Bobby and Gail, in Somer's Point, which is next to Ocean City.

Bobby runs this beautiful high-end Marina that was sheltered with beautiful condos. All the boats are permanent residents and it was a lovely, quiet place to stay and see the sights.

Bobby and Gail live in a lovely area, lush with trees and flowers, animals and birds. That's our little rental car.

Besides traveling and sailing the world, Bobby has many passions. It was fun to see all of his cool stuff and a guy living his dream.

This was a special visit after many years promising to visit and here we are.

We took our little rental car over to the Ocean city boardwalk and it was as honky-tonk as I remember, alot of junk food and arcades. It was fun.

And of course there was King Kong.

So we figure, what else do you do on a cold summer day in Ocean City, New Jersey?

We guess, play Gooney Golf with a 20 foot pirate and a parrot.

Bobby takes us back in time to a small beach town just south of Ocean City, called Strathmere.

Here in the summer, the wealthy own and the not so poor rent, old and new beach houses overlooking sand dunes and the surf.

We ate at Mildred's, which is in high demand with reservations during the season. It reminded me of "Marker 88" in the Keys, a place that everybody remembers.

We feel fortunate to have seen Ocean City "like a native" and we thank Bobby and Gail for their hospitality.

Bye, Bobby!
