Midland

Leaving all of the locks behind, we now travel south into the Georgian Bay to Midland, Ontario, where we will be meeting our friends Joy and Jill Pankey from Savannah, Georgia, on the yacht "Jim's Joy".

We pull into Bay Port Yachting Center, which is near the downtown waterfront and is a busy stop over for transient boaters to re-provision supplies as they cruise through Georgian Bay.

Midland is famous for it's murals, and it seems every wall has one. Conspicuous on your approach to Midland is North America's largest outdoor historic mural, beautifully executed on the massive grain elevators by deceased local artist Fred Lenz.

Another large mural across from the town docks depicts an amazing lighthouse.
You have to go up close to believe it is not real.

Officials are taking steps to preserve these beautiful works of art.
