The Trent-Severn Waterway

Welcome to the Trent-Severn Waterway, a 240 mile heritage canal network managed by Parks Canada that glides across central Ontario linking Lake Ontario with Georgian Bay on Lake Huron.

A series of lakes, rivers, man-made canals and locks meshed together by feats of engineering brilliance creating one of the world's most outstanding fresh-water cruising regions.

It didn't happen overnight. In fact, it was some 87 years in the making, lots of interruptions and likely the longest construction job in Canadian history.

The end result is nothing short of spectacular!

Visitors have found the Trent-Severn irrestible for centuries.

Back in the early 1600's French explorer Samuel de Champlain paddled the still untamed waterway by canoe with his native guides. Today, this waterway is enjoyed by all Canadians that live on it, as we see them swimming, boating, and fishing.

The people here are very friendly and wave to us from shore.

The shoreline has a variety of homes, buildings, trailer parks, and farms.

This is a very pretty part of Canada.
